Hawks dominate at Regents park

The New Year started with an impressive win for Hawks against Central London in Regents Park. Hawks managed to organise their attack quickly, resulting in the first goal within 15 seconds, and from there they took control of the game. When the ball reached defence, it was quickly turned over by some solid checks and several excellent saves from Annie. The midfield transition was strong and the ball was quickly and accurately transferred to the attack producing some good goals by Phoebe and Emma G. By half time, Hawks had an impressive 11-1 lead.

The second half again saw some dominant play from Hawks. More fast breaks resulted in some early goals from Izzi and Lara. The defence was impenetrable, with great play from Sam, Becky, Lulu, Amy and Emma B - particularly after a yellow card call led to Hawks being a player down. The defence communicated quickly to prevent any conceded goals in the two minute man-down situation. In attack, Hawks started to practice some unit play, increasing the score with moves from picks, crease rolls, give and go's and slow break movement from Laura, Julie, Caity and Lara. There was also some great mid-field transition from Nicole and Georgie resulting in a final score of 21-2. Goals came from 7 different players including Emma, Phoebe, 2 each from Laura and Caity, 3 from Izzi, 5 from Julie and a whopping 7 from Lara. Everyone played really well and worked together to produce some great teamwork all over the field, leading to a great start to the new year.
