A nail biting battle to the final whistle

Blues got off to a fast and furious start with 3 goals in quick succession leaving our defence frustrated but determined to step it up. This was closely followed by a fantastic save by Holly who unfortunately went down injured and had to leave the pitch. Nic manned up and donned the goalie kit and, despite the upset, Hawks gained more possession and settled down in attack allowing more set moves to pay dividends. We finished half time trailing 7-5 but with renewed energy and confidence that we could take the second half in true Hawks style.
The second half was intense and well fought throughout. Hawks adjusted the draws and stepped up the pressure in the mid field and defence. In the attacking end we were calm, patient and our shots were spot on. We reduced the goal gap and were matching Blues goal for goal until 5 minutes to go when Hawks took the lead for the first time, going 12-11 up. Blues responded in full force and were firing shots past our goal non-stop. Finally they hit the mark taking the score to 12-12 with only a couple of minutes to go. Hawks were back on the offensive looking good to score the decider but sadly we were beaten by the full time whistle.
This was a cracking start to the new season and has given the team increased confidence in taking on a top team in the league. Bring on Central London next week.
